Mones team would like to announce to all Monesians about the tokenomics of the Mones project up to date.

Single-token Model

Recently, in consultation with incubators and partners and receiving comments from community members, our team has reviewed the dual-token model with 2 tokens $MONES (governance token) and $NES (in-game token).

After a lot of research from the performance history of NFT Games projects with different token models, we decided to adapt the token model from dual-token to single-token with $MONES acting as both governance and in-game token. The NES will no longer be a token but will become one of a number of in-game currencies with the function of paying for some in-game features.

What are the reasons for this change?

Through our research on projects that have been using the dual-token model, we have noticed the fact that this model simply doesn’t work.

In the dual-token model, an NFT game project will issue 2 tokens, a governance token and an in-game token. The governance token has a fixed total supply, and is representative of the value of the project. Meanwhile, in-game tokens have an infinite total supply, are minted by user activity and used to reward users for playing the game.

Some limitations of this model are:

  • Missing use case for either or both tokens because the project has to split the use case between the 2 tokens. This directly leads to a lack of demand for either or even both tokens.
  • Causes a supply explosion when players try to mint as many in-game tokens as they can when there is an infinite total supply.

Because of the limitations and difficulty of controlling the dual token model, we decided to choose the single-token model with $MONES as the only token of the project.

With a limited total supply, a tightly controlled reward pool, and a series of use cases exclusive to $MONES, this will be a better solution for both users, investors, and the project.
